When you think of today’s top hardcore rock bands, Escape the Fate quickly springs into mind. With three top selling music albums under their name, they have taken the world of post-hardcore and punk music by storm. Slowly but surely they have been gaining more fans as their brand of music continouosly spread. As a sign of this, even skeleton gloves has increased in fame recently because of the band.
What is a post-hardcore music or band you might ask? It is actually a music genre that is based on the original hardcore punk and the punk rock music. Post-hardcore therefore refers to all the bands that emerged from the influence of the hardcore music scene. While hardcore is their inspiration, their music is actually closer to that of experimental rock.
In 2004, Escape the Fate was formed in Nevada composing of the these original members: Bryan Monte Money as their lead guitarist, Ronnie Radke on lead vocals, on rhythm guitar they had Omar Espinosa, Robert Ortiz in drums, and on base guitar was Max Green.
They also went through a couple of band member changes, perhaps only typical with any other popular rock bands. As some might have said, it was a serious of unfortunate events that tainted the band’s history but also brought forth some pleasant changes.
For example, Ronnie Radke was sentenced into prison prompting his departure from the band. He was immediately replaced by Craig Mabbitt.
The next Escape the Fate member to leave was their keyboardist at that time, Carson Allen, who left to join On The Last Day, anothe rock band.
In 2007, it was Omar Espinosa’s turn to leave. The band cited personal reasons for Omar’s unprecedented departure.
To say the least, it is only a normal thing for any band to lose and gain members over a period of time. The only difference is that Escape the Fate experienced these ups and downs during the so far short existence of their band. Add to that fact that some of the band members were going through some drug addiction problems. Something they were able to solve through rehabilitation.
However, gloomy as a part of their history might be, the band has experienced major successes thanks to their current albums out in the market. These are ‘This War is Ours’, ‘There’s No Sympathy for the Dead’, and ‘Dying is Your Latest Fashion’.
As to their first album, the ‘This War is Ours’, the band members claimed that one of their tracks, “We Won’t Back Down” shows the world the kind of wild party animals that they are. Perhpas it just goes to show what a hard rocker’s life can truly be as often portrayed in their music videos.
Then a few years later, their ‘Dying is Your Latest Fashion’ album came out. That album was a feat itself for the whole band, after all they were at that time, experiencing a few personal problems. To think that they were able to produce such a good album with all that fuzz between them was truly amazing.
Today, while Escape the Fate has been continuously categorized by their fans or critics, they often prefer to be remembered as that band that plays great rock music. Good thing that is true.
